FINE ART BLACK & WHITE

I spend a lot of time making sure the colors in my images are spot on.  But despite that, my favorite images are black and white.  I realize that not everyone likes black and white; and, if I didn't have to be realistic about selling images, I'd shoot exclusively in black and white.  There is just something timeless about black and white; and it completely rejects the latest filters and editing fads on social media, which become out-dated within a few months.   Black and white images often evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness, making them feel classic and enduring. With an emphasis on composition, without color, the focus shifts to elements like contrast, shapes, and textures. This can enhance the composition and draw attention to the subject matter.  It shows the important elements of a photograph and doesn't allow one to hide a mediocre image behind splashy, gaudy, oversaturated colors.
